What Are Stellest® Lenses?
Stellest® lenses are myopia-control eyeglass lenses developed by Essilor®. Unlike conventional single-vision glasses, which primarily correct blurry vision, Stellest® lenses incorporate specialized optical technology designed to help slow the progression of childhood myopia.
The center of the lens provides clear distance vision while the surrounding treatment area creates a carefully controlled optical signal that helps slow excessive eye growth.
For the child, they look and function much like a normal pair of glasses—making them one of the easiest myopia management options to incorporate into everyday life.
How Do Stellest® Lenses Work?
Myopia typically progresses as a child’s eye grows too long from front to back, a process known as axial elongation.
Stellest® lenses use Essilor’s H.A.L.T. (Highly Aspherical Lenslet Target) technology. A constellation of tiny aspherical lenslets surrounds the central clear viewing area of the lens.
These lenslets create a specific volume of myopic defocus in front of the retina while the central portion of the lens continues to provide clear vision.
This optical signal is designed to help slow the excessive axial elongation associated with progressive childhood myopia.
How Effective Are Stellest® Lenses?
Clinical studies have demonstrated that Stellest® lenses can significantly slow both myopia progression and axial eye growth in children compared with conventional single-vision lenses when worn consistently.
Like all forms of myopia management, results vary from child to child, and consistent wear is important.
